Introduction

Freelancing for in-flight and international travel publications, UK-born freelance writer and photographer Marie Barbieri has been planting footsteps across the globe for over 20 years.

Marie has secured commissions from inflight magazines such as Silverkris, Jetstar, Paradise and Islands. Her travel publications markets include Holidays for Couples, Wanderlust, Australia & New Zealand, Arrivals + Departures, Great Walks and Fitness First. She is also a regular complementary health columnist for Bicycling Australia. Other publications her work has featured in include Italia!, The Italian, Italy, To Portugal, Devon Life, Yoga magazine and Stamford Life (the in-room magazine of the Stamford Hotel group).

Marie spent several years living, working and travelling in Australia, before becoming a citizen. She has an in-depth knowledge of the country, particularly of Sydney and the east coast. Based in Adelaide, she devotes most of her time to freelance projects within South Australia as well as the other states, whilst continuing to travel to Europe to freelance for UK-based publications.

Marie has explored most of Australia, New Zealand's North Island, the east, central and west coast of the United States, the Caribbean, the Greek islands and Athens, various regions in Italy, France's Verdon Gorge and The Azorean island of Sao Miguel. Recent travels have had Marie cycling Australia's Gold Coast, hiking through the Flinders Ranges, wining and dining in the Barossa Valley and exploring the isolated wilderness of Tasmania's Bay of Fires.

Marie welcomes commissions on any subject on Australia, New Zealand (the Bay of Islands and Rotorua), Italy (Capri, Parma, Piacenza, Pavia and Lake Garda), The Greek islands (Mykonos, Paxos and Crete), France and Portugal.

Marie has extensive photography archives from all of the above destinations and can provide quality, high-resolution images. She has particularly exceptional photography from Australia’s Kangaroo Island, the Southern Flinders Ranges (particularly around the Mount Remarkable National Park), Sydney, the Gold Coast and Tasmania's north east.

Marie is planning some ideas for guide books, but firstly, will spend time exploring the colours, temperatures and curvatures of South Australia's Eyre Peninsula.

Also a qualified complementary therapist who ran her own therapy business in the UK, Marie writes in the field of health and natural therapies.

Marie is available to discuss feature or photography assignments, including words/pictures packages on any of the above subjects.
