Introduction
Good Day Dear Reader,
After years of traveling and writing, but not for each other, I decided to fuse my two great loves. The affair has been successful, with much credit going to Amanda Castleman for expert advice and instruction.
Nature and adventure are my two main passions, although I am not above luxury travel when absolutely necessary. My trips to Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Costa Rica and Dominica were hardly budget oriented. Australia was another story, but there is always another story.
Upcoming, watch for a 'Getting There is Half the Fun' piece concocted from a harebrained idea of mine to train from Vancouver to Calgary, and cycle (you read correctly) back along the TransCanada Trail (www.tctrail.ca). A change of clothes and a visa is all I'm taking...wish me luck. Even my laptop will have to remain home if I hope to make it back in five days or less.
Experience & Expertise
I have taken photos around the globe and have an outstanding assortment of high quality photos from SE Asia, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, London, Budapest and Western Canada - my home. I have a desire to go ... everywhere. Remote places especially. Trekking in South America, sailing in Africa, exploring the remote jungles of Papua New Guinea, you name it. To date I have been to Europe, North and Central America, Australia, and SE Asia. I intend to see Bora Bora before it is underwater, Iceberg Alley before they all melt, and the Amazon Basin before it turns to farmland. I am one of those eco-tourists that want to save the environment even though the very travel itself contributes to its destruction. I have yet to solve the conundrum and am accepting suggestions. Bike travel seems to be a great solution - delve deep into the land in question, save $ on fuel and get in great shape. What's not to love?
