Introduction
Addicted to the road, I have traveled the width and breadth of the Middle East. Fluent in both Arabic and English, knowledge of Arabic opens least thought of doors and enables me to provide insider's insight no other travel writer can provide. I have written and photographed "Egypt Rediscovered"; a coffee-table book with short essays that attempts to shed light on Egypt's least known hidden treasures (this is not the stuff you will find in ordinary guidebooks), as well as updating two travel guides covering Sudan (Bradt) and Egypt (Frommer's). Published articles appear periodically in national and regional magazine and newspapers that include Egyptian Al Ahram Weekly, Jordanian UMen, and Emarati Gulf News.
Experience & Expertise
The Middle East is my home, my backyard, and my playground. Here I was born, here I live, and here where I most travel. A CNN headline news that never misses a single news, the Middle East is actually one of the most fascinating places to travel in; all you need to do is just look beyond the political charades. With such passion to this part of the world, it comes as no surprise that all the three books to my credit cover Middle Eastern destinations: Egypt (two titles), and Sudan (one title). I have also traveled and wrote about other destinations mainly in Asia (like the Maldives and Sri Lanka), and Africa (Kenya and Djibouti).
