Introduction

I am a published writer and photographer. My favorite topics to write on are sailing and travel and I specialize in literary non-fiction. My work has been published by Goldstream Gazette, Whistler Journal, 48 North, Boat Works, Living Aboard, and Latitudes and Attitudes among others. I recently won second prize in a writing contest sponsored by 48 North. My photos have been included in Sierra Club presentations and I have also conducted audio-visual presentations and seminars. I have been passionate about sailing ever since a friend took me out on a Laser over 25 years ago. Since then, I have owned seven sailboats from a 21-foot Southern Coast day-sailer, on which I lived for a year in British Columbia, to my present “keeper,” a 32-foot Ted Brewer designed, Eidos. I have over 15,000 nm of offshore experience from British Columbia to Acapulco, in Florida and the Caribbean, across the Atlantic and now in the Mediterranean on all kinds of boats, including a 26-foot International Folkboat in Mexico, a 98-foot brigantine on the Pacific and a 100-foot Camper Nicholson in the Mediterranean. In the past I worked as a programmer and a project manager for an oceanographic institute, a reporter for a weekly newspaper, and a tree counter in an old growth forest for Western Canada Wilderness Committee, to name a few. I have two grown sons who sail with me whenever they can. Presently, I am living and cruising aboard Eidos in Greece.
