Introduction
I did the so-called "slum tours" long before they became popular with the rich and bored. I toured India for five months at just 20 years old. In 1991, I returned a second time to India, and met scholars at the Gandhi Center in New Delhi that had studied there with Martin Luther King Jr. in 1955. My international travels have included Spain, Mexico, and Haiti. When in Haiti, I was inspired by the work of then President Aristide. I wrote to him a letter of my appreciation. After reading my letter, Aristide invited me to return to Haiti to visit him. In the U.S., I've traveled to nearly every state, many by motorcycle. In 2005, went to Hawaii and stayed at the Onion House in Kona. This house is a creative, architectural freak of nature owned by the McCormick Spice Heiress - Beth McCormick. Going back in May of 2008 - would love to do photos and story for you. M.A. in creative writing from Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
Experience & Expertise
India for 5 months, traveling the entire country. Haiti - after which I corresponded with then President Aristide and recived a personal invitation to return to Haiti. Several American Indian reservations in the U.S. Barcelona, Spain for a one month language training course. Hawaii during which I stayed at the famous Onion House in Kona. The house has been featured in television travel programs. When I was there in March 2005, the Japanese version of Esquire magazine was on site for photos and story. I'm returning to the house in May of 2008. This could be an incredible article for someone looking to see and read of an exotic and unusual vacation spot.
